VinLog operates via all modes of transportation: sea, rail, road, and air. Services cover full container loads (FCL), less than container loads (LCL), temperature-controlled transportation, bulk (flexi tank/ISO tank), and protective services. B2C e-commerce fulfilment is also available in select markets. When it comes to the global transport of wine in bulk, VinLog is one of the top providers. With the flexitank, it offers a very successful transport solution - its cost efficient, flexible and individual while it also helps to reduce CO2 emissions. Horst Müller, the global head of VinLog, gives us the details here: Would you like to briefly introduce your company? VinLog - powered by Kuehne+Nagel is a globally known and respected logistics service provider that wineries, distilleries, breweries, retailers, importers and exporters can rely on. And this applies regardless of the level of service required, for a widely diverse clientele, ranging from the small and specialised family importer to the multinational brand owner. With many years of experience in the wine industry, VinLog powered by Kuehne+Nagel offers market-specific knowledge, and can deliver sustainable, tailor-made solutions that include transport, storage and distribution. We recently learned about a solution for transporting wine in bulk. What do you think about the market for bulk wine at the moment? Bulk wine is a steadily growing niche segment. We see that many wine producing countries have surplus stocks to sell. In particular, the southern hemisphere is an important area of origin in this segment. What solutions does the flexitank offer here? Flexitanks are the perfect solution for transporting wine in bulk. They are designed for the single-use transport of compatible, pumpable liquids that are classified as non-dangerous goods. At VinLog, we transport wine primarily in flexitanks. We can customise the flexitank according to the customer’s requirements and the type of liquid to be transported. Flexitanks are available in sizes from 10,000 to 24,000 litres and for a cargo weight of up to 24 tonnes. VinLog’s flexitanks are certified worldwide and are accepted by all major bottlers and wineries. What makes the flexitank so efficient? With flexitanks one benefits from lower freight costs compared to shipping bottled wine. Harnessing the efficiency of flexitanks also reduces the carbon footprint of shipping. We are currently working on a new design for our 20' and 40' flexitanks to reduce the load on the side walls and allow for an even smaller residual volume in the flexitanks, only about 30 litres. In addition, we are in the process of testing a system that will allow the supplier to ensure that the Flexitank is filled to optimal capacity. What can VinLog do for reduction of CO2 emissions? The flexitanks can substantially reduce CO2 because of the space-saving factor. In addition, biofuel to reduce transport emissions is gaining importance and customers are increasingly asking for this option, which VinLog can offer. There are numerous green solutions available for drinks companies looking to transport their products in a sustainable and CO 2-neutral way. Kuehne+Nagel offers complete climate-neutral shipment options. Customers can choose to avoid, reduce or compensate their shipping carbon footprint by opting for biofuels that instantly reduce CO 2emissions, for example. We can also help with offsetting, suggesting lower-emission transport routes, or providing environmentally friendly warehouse management, equipment, and packaging materials.” More information about VinLog – powered by Kuehne+Nagel and Sustainability programme are available at these links: https://vinlog.com/ https://home.kuehne-nagel.com/-/company/corporate-social-responsibility/carbon-offset
