The challenges of working in the world of wine The lockdowns caused by the COVID pandemic have led to wine often being abused, sometimes vilified, and at other times used as a prop. In a context of transition in which wine has become the protagonist, there is a need for professionals in the sector to hone their skills to better manage their health through awareness and moderation. During the session, the two speakers present the mission of A Balanced Glass and offer some advice for the professionals present. A Balanced Glass A A Balanced Glass (ABG) is a web forum. Its aim is to provide guidance and develop a support network for professionals within the alcoholic beverages sector. A Balanced Glass is committed to change the way we talk about health and wellness, bringing to light often ignored topics and help younger generations to grow and thrive in the sector. Since its launch in March 2018, more than 500 wine professionals from nine countries have joined the community on the ever-growing web forum, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. Rebecca Hopkins Growing up in the McLaren Vale wine region, Rebecca Hopkins had her first role in the wine business working at Wirra Wirra vineyards in 1992. In 1999 she moved to Coonawarra to work with producer Rymill Winery as Marketing, Sales & Export Manager, before joining Australia's largest producer, BRL Hardy, in 2001. Hopkins is now Communications Strategist at Folio Fine Wine Partners and a founder of “A Balanced Glass”. Cathy Huyghe Journalist, award-winning entrepreneur, and public speaker, Cathy Huyghe is the co-founder and CEO of Enolytics, a data-driven company that provides business insights to alcoholic beverage companies around the world. She is a Forbes contributor on wine industry business and politics, and writes for Inc on mindfulness practices for entrepreneurs, particularly in the hospitality industry. She founded Writing for Seva, which directly led to the co-creation of content for A Balanced Glass.
