Ristorante d’Arte e d'Autore: the future of italian cuisine and wine lies in distinction

Fine cuisine meets wine and beauty at Vinitaly

Beauty and taste were the assets that saw Vinitaly come to the fore throughout the world in recent years as the ambassador of Italian wine. This journey took advantage of the widely acknowledged talent and enterprise of the Veneto Region, whereby Verona - already a capital of opera and culture - also became a major hub for the entire international wine business.

The story of the link between art and wine, on event days during the major show organized by Veronafiere (next 14-17 April), will be outlined by the artists and top chefs from Verona itself highlighted on a stage of excellence.

"Ristoranti d’arte e d’autore" is a daily appointment with chefs who have brought international status to fine dining in Verona. It is staged during Vinitaly in an elegant setting of Palaexpo (1st floor), where several works in Veronafiere's collection of contemporary art will also be exhibited.

Highly talented and already well-established chefs will alternate with rising young stars in the kitchens. Their dishes this year will illustrate the path that has helped them establish their reputations – a path that depends on knowing how not to forget their "roots", starting from the heritage of their local food and wine culture and then projecting it into the future. Their dishes are prepared using the finest, artisan produce as ingredients and take inspiration from knowledge of traditional recipes to become a modern interpretation of the New Venetian and Italian Cuisine. Their creativity is never an end in itself but rather exploits skill and imagination to create a blend of aromas and flavours that invite the best wine pairings, an essential combination during every important meal.

Thanks to Ristoranti d’arte e d’autore, Palaexpo at Vinitaly from Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17 April will serve lunch every day in a setting on the first floor transformed into a welcoming place of beauty and taste. Paolo Massobrio and Marco Gatti - the two famous "bow tie" journalists - will animate these events every day with a lively talk show, accompanying diners in food and wine tastings.

The venue, set up for the occasion by architect Silvia Sandini, hosts 20 works acquired through the Premio A Disposizione project, Veronafiere's acquisition fund for works of contemporary art selected from the best art galleries taking part in the ArtVerona sfow.

Combining culinary, wine, ingredients and visual culture, Ristoranti d’arte e d’autore  becomes a space for a crossover experience in the world of taste and quality.

The deep bond that unites Italian wine - with Vinitaly as its international ambassador - and signature cuisine - as ever a symbol and visiting card for Italian taste and excellence - will be interpreted by: Sunday 14 April Chef Giacomo Sacchetto- Iris Restaurant, Palazzo Soave in Verona (VR). Monday 15 April Chef Mattia Bianchi, Villa Amistà restaurant c/o Byblos Art Hotel in Corrubbio di San Pietro in Cariano (VR). Tuesday 16 April Chef Silvia Banterle, Stilla Restaurant in Colognola ai Colli (VR). Wednesday 17 April Chef Alberto Mori– Al Callianino Restaurant in Pergola (VR).

The wine list is offered by companies selected by AIS - the Italian Sommelier Association - whose team of professionals also provide the wine service in the dining room.
