We all know that in recent years the wine sector has been going through a complex phase. Wine, a symbol of conviviality and culture in many parts of the world—and particularly in Italy—now finds itself facing economic, social, and environmental changes that are challenging its market and future prospects. However, precisely in this context of difficulty, Italy appears to be in a relatively advantageous position thanks to the extraordinary variety of its grape varieties, the depth of its history, and the strength of its winemaking tradition.
In fact, Italy is the country with the greatest winegrowing biodiversity in the world, with over 500 registered indigenous grape varieties, many of which have been cultivated since Etruscan and Roman times and are found in virtually every region.
Thus, through the rediscovery and promotion of these native varieties, the Italian wine system could effectively respond to new market demands—especially from younger generations—who are looking to engage with wines that are new and distinctive, yet rooted in a clear history and cultural tradition.
The aim of this tasting is precisely to introduce—or reintroduce—particular Italian wines made from indigenous grape varieties, with strong potential for growth and appreciation.
It will be a true enological “Tour of Italy,” involving many regions from north to south, including the islands, with the goal of showcasing the extraordinary richness and quality of Italy’s ampelographic heritage.
We look forward to welcoming you to the tasting, because, as it should always be, it will be the wines themselves that speak, telling their story and expressing their personality.
