Italy is a country long connected to family and traditions, yet it possesses uncommon innovative and inventive abilities. The rediscovery of native grapes, promoted by Ian D’Agata through his writings (at a time when no one was talking about native varieties), beginning in the year 2000, greatly increased interest in Italian wine worldwide. D’Agata himself will guide this tasting of thirteen different wines from northern Italy from small wineries of high quality. Some very famous ones such as Amarone, Moscato d’Asti, and Ribolla Gialla (here is the tradition, but revisited in a modern key); others instead new and almost unique (Marselan, but also a Johanniter/Bronner blend, two rare hybrids); others great but needing rediscovery (Sylvaner). In short, an exceptional masterclass and something for everyone: sparkling wines, orange wines, sweet wines, and many sustainable and biodynamic ones.
