The importance of wine grapes in general lies not just in their uniqueness but also in how they express the Italian territory with myriad facets. In this masterclass, Sangiovese’s chameleon-like nature is highlighted, with a Toscana Rosso, a Chianti Classico, and a Brunello di Montalcino. Same grape, three different wines, and not due to winemaking alchemy. And a Bordeaux blend as an international comparison. But also many fantastic lesser-known grape varieties: Biancame, Canaiolo Nero, Lambrusco Grasparossa (there are 17 'Lambrusco' varieties in Italy, and they are all different, just like the wines), Ortrugo, Pecorino, and much more. Together with Ian D’Agata, award-winning author of books on indigenous grapes and their wines, a truly unique masterclass that will let you know the ABC of wines made with indigenous grape varieties from he who is universally recognized as having written their history. This is also the difference between Vinitaly and other fairs.
