Different native grapes, one authentic territory: Montefalco

Description

Montefalco is one of Umbria’s most distinctive wine territories, a place where native grape varieties, history, and winemaking culture come together to produce wines with a strong and unmistakable personality. This masterclass offers a journey into the heart of this territory through a selection of labels that showcase the richness and diversity of its most representative varieties.

From the versatility of Sagrantino to that of Montefalco Rosso, and the elegance and freshness of Trebbiano Spoletino, VIA students will explore how different native grape varieties can express a single territorial identity.

Through a tasting of six wines from representative wineries of the area, including Di Filippo, Perticaia, Tenuta di Saragano, Tenute Lunelli-Carapace, Terre de la Custodia and Valdangius, the masterclass will highlight the distinctive characteristics of the different appellations: Montefalco Rosso DOC, Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG and Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino DOC. A tasting and learning experience designed to illustrate how terroir, tradition and winemaking interpretation contribute to defining the authenticity of Montefalco, offering a comprehensive perspective of its contemporary wine identity.
