Italian Sommelier Challenge, Almaty – The competition has begun! Who will take the gold?

The highly anticipated Italian Sommelier Challenge has officially kicked off in Almaty as part of the Vinitaly Kazakhstan Roadshow 2025. This knockout-style professional competition is organized in collaboration with the Italian Wine Podcast, CAWU, and IWINE.

Stage 1 took place on June 12 with an online multiple-choice quiz. Out of 78 participants from 5 countries, only 23 advanced to the next stage.

Stage 2, announced on June 14, is a creative task: contestants must submit a selfie-style video (maximum 3 minutes) on a topic related to Italian wine, by June 24.

The top 10 participants will be invited to Almaty on July 7, at the Rixos Almaty Hotel, for Stages 3 and 4:

• Stage 3 – A hands-on semifinal with challenges in wine service, tasting, and food and wine pairing.

• Stage 4 – A final round including a role-play set in a traditional Italian trattoria, followed by a fast-paced quiz between the two finalists.

A jury of five wine and food experts, including two certified Italian Wine Ambassadors, will evaluate all performances and select the winner.

The grand prize is a prestigious scholarship to the VIA Flagship Edition 2026 in Verona (April 15–19, 2026), an advanced training experience focused on Italy’s native grape varieties, led by the Faculty of the Vinitaly International Academy.

12 июня в Алматы стартовал первый в Казахстане Italian Sommelier Challenge — профессиональный конкурс сомелье по итальянским винам, проходящий в рамках Vinitaly Kazakhstan Roadshow 2025 при поддержке Italian Wine Podcast, CAWU и IWINE.

Из 100 зарегистрированных участников из Казахстана, Кыргызстана, Молдовы, Узбекистана и России в онлайн-квалификации приняли участие 78 сомелье и винных энтузиастов. Только 23 из них набрали более 55 баллов и прошли во второй тур.

Этап 2 — творческий: участники снимают короткое селфи-видео (до 3 минут) на заданную тему, связанную с итальянским вином. Видео принимаются до 24 июня. Авторы 10 лучших видео пройдут в этапы 3 и 4, которые состоятся 7 июля в Rixos Almaty Hotel.

Этап 3 — практическая полуфинальная часть: сервис вина, слепая дегустация и фудпейринг.

Этап 4 — финал с ролевой игрой в стиле итальянской траттории и блиц-викториной между двумя финалистами.

Победителя определит жюри из пяти экспертов, двое из которых — сертифицированные послы итальянского вина VIA.

Главный приз — стипендия на участие в курсе VIA Verona 2026 – Flagship Edition, который пройдет 15–19 апреля 2026 года в рамках Vinitaly International Academy в Вероне.

ВНИМАНИЕ:
