GUIDED TOUR DISCOVERING THE GRAND BALLROOM OF PALAZZO BALLADORO - 2

Description

The palace has belonged since the mid-17th century to the Balladoro family, who were active in the textile trade. In 1738, the Venetian Senate granted the title of Count to the male members and Noblewoman to the female members of the family, and the palace was rebuilt based on a design by Luigi Trezza.
The palace features classical lines and is distinguished by its arched entrance portal with rusticated masonry. On the piano nobile there is a Sanmicheli-style balcony, while the central axis of the building is marked by a French window topped with a raised pediment. Around the second half of the 18th century, Adriano Cristofoli carried out several interior adaptation works.
In the first courtyard of the palace, there are three sundials, recently restored. The Ballroom of Palazzo Balladoro, with its ceiling and walls decorated at the end of the 18th century, remains perfectly preserved today. The walls feature monochrome architectural elements and statues, while the ceiling is adorned with a large oval surrounded by a light yellow frame and white faux stucco. Within this frame are six yellow-gold medallions bearing the portraits of distinguished members of the family. Inside the oval, we can admire “Virtue Driving Out Vice.”
