The Citadel of Gastronomy

Once again in 2008, Vinitaly will welcome the "Citadel of Gastronomy and Typical Produce", by now a consolidated initiative well-known among sector operators - so much so that Italian and European regions continue to support the event as part of their "image promotion" for quality products.

The Citadel of Gastronomy focuses on pairings between food and wine to emphasise the bonds and relationships between cultures, traditions and territories - particularly through the presentation of DOP (Denomination of Protected Origin) and IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) products. In this context, gastronomy presentations by specific regions or countries at the same time seek to highlight cultural peculiarities and promote the overall image of such regions and countries attending Vinitaly 2008.

The restaurants involved ensure perfect valorisation of these products in gastronomy by preparing specific yet different menus for Vinitaly, with particular reference to Italian and international journalists, restaurant/catering operators and international food distribution buyers; participants will have the chance to enjoy the specific sensorial qualities of typical products and their impressive potential in various kinds of cuisine.
