Vinitaly the scents and flavours of the Via EmiliaThe sustainability of the territory will be one of the main themes that will characterize the communication of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna at the event in Verona

The food and wine culture, together with the identity of Emilia Romagna will be protagonists once again at Vinitaly 2017 in Verona, 9-12 April, thanks to Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna. As usual, the many expected visitors will find new events, tastings, meetings and workshops aiming to promote and enhance the regional wine heritage, but also the culture and traditions of the territory. This year two main topics, in close relationship with each other, will characterize the communication during the event: "SCENTS FROM THE SOIL, travelling along the Via Emilia" and the sustainability of the territory. Furthermore, Hall 1 will also host the event "Carta Canta" - the contest that rewards the wine lists of restaurants, wine bars, farmhouses and hotels located in the region, in Italy or abroad which serve a variety of qualified wines of Emilia Romagna. Last but not least, two important anniversaries will be celebrated: the “50th of Dop Romagna Sangiovese and Albana” and “50th Dop Gutturnio” and dedicated wine tastings. "Our companies are expecting a lot from Vinitaly,, that’s why every year we try to emphasize new topics which add value to the peculiarities in the region" says Pierluigi Sciolette, President of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna. Since the beginning of his mandate, the theme of the Via Emilia has characterized the activity of Enoteca Regionale under the guidance of Sciolette "SCENTS FROM THE SOIL, traveling along the Via Emilia" represents a further step. Sciolette continues: “The Via Emilia “from 187 A.C. a trip in good taste" is the line that gives continuity and unity to the whole region, embracing the specific features of the different territories along its route, such as culture, gastronomy, landscapes, traditions and of course the wines." In order to better explain the birth of this unique travel, visitors will observe on a large panel in Hall 1 (about 6x4 meters) the original "soil pictures" (core samples), representing different types of soil which are located along the via Emilia from south to north, starting from the province of Rimini until Piacenza (with only a small deviation in the territory of Ferrara). Different soil types that correspond to the seven main varieties of the region, from which we make our wines of designated origin: Albana and Sangiovese for the Romagna region, Pignoletto for Bologna, Fortana for Ferrara, Modena Lambrusco for Reggio Emilia, Parma, Malvasia for Parma and Piacenza, Gutturnio for Piacenza. A representation of the scents and flavours of the main vine varieties will be also displayed through pictures of flowers, fruits, etc. characterizing in order to help the visitors in finding those certain characteristics at the very moment of the tasting. The Emilia Romagna wineries have always engaged in research and development and are the added value to the territory. A value that is also measured by sustainability: social, economic and environmental. Sustainability is the second strong theme proposed by Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna at Vinitaly 2017. "A few months ago we started a long process, starting from Modena and Reggio Emilia, which will last a few more years, which aim at verifying the conditions for obtaining a territorial sustainability certification in the areas bounded by the PDO, only for the wine sector. It would be one of the first, maybe the only, document at the national level that certifies not a single product or a single company, but an entire regional industry. The early experiments in collaboration with the Equalitas certification company are already underway and we aim at producing a complete certification that takes into account all the criteria of sustainability: environmental, social, economic. It would be a very important tool and an award in favour of the many manufacturers that are committed for years to improve growing techniques and to protect the environment. Moreover, could be a strong marketing tool both to the domestic market and to the international one, "explains President Sciolette. Producers are enthusiastic about the proposal, as well as the various agencies and institutions. “Our Region is a united community and Enoteca Regionale contributes actively to keep together small and medium-sized businesses and large cooperative groups; collaboration with the Consortium and the various bodies and institutions, primarily the Emilia-Romagna region by the Department of Agriculture, is strong and continuous, all aiming to achieve common results” says Ambrogio Manzi, Director of Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna and Vinitaly curator. During Vinitaly there will be a further moment of visibility for the project "Carta Canta", whose presentation took place at “Enologica 2016 - the Wine and typical product exhibition of Emilia Romagna” which takes place every year in November in Bologna under the direction of Enoteca Regionale. The association has set up a register of Ambassadors of Emilia Romagna in the World with two sections, one for Italy and one for foreign countries, for local operators (restaurants, bars, wine bars, etc.) who have distinguished themselves with their wine lists. Every year a panel of experts will award the exhibitors that will be awarded with a certificate of recognition and the registration in the prestigious register. Director Manzi explains: "The initiative we have developed in collaboration with the FIPE Emilia-Romagna (Association representing all the operators in commercial businesses), is intended to support and recognize the efforts of those who believe in the typicality of the territory and extended its wine list with specialties of our region. A kind of seal of quality for selected local ". #premiocartacanta HALL 1 IN FIGURES On about 4,000 square meters area (distributed between the ground floor and several mezzanine floors to take advantage of the Hall) Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna will present about 200 companies and consortia. 20 sommeliers will guide the tastings at the 7 wine desks in which there are about 500 wines to be found, 15,000 glasses available for tastings, run by 30 people. 1 restaurant – (reserved access by invitation) available for the exhibitors to enhance their wine production through the combination food / wine. This restaurant will propose the format of "Incantina" (from the name of the restaurant, wine cellar and wine bar located in Frankfurt owned by Enoteca Servizi srl) offering a strongly tied to the territory menu thanks to a brigade of 40 people, including cooks and waiters. The "Incantina" format aims to multiply in the world of Emilia Romagna the wine and food culture of the region. We cannot forget, in fact, that Emilia Romagna is the food valley of Europe, the leading European region for number of PDO and PGI products (44). To help the many visitors expected this year at Hall 1, among the many possibilities to deepen their knowledge through events and sections on the website and their social media, Enoteca Regionale proposes the dual language Web App (Italian and English) that will guide the user through the tasting desks at Vinitaly, discovering more information about the producers of that particular wine, as well as the wines produced from that cellar. The App can be reached through a special "button" within the App "Via Emilia Wine & Food" APT Servizi Emilia Romagna, managed in cooperation and on behalf of the Departments of Agriculture and Tourism of the Emilia-Romagna Region, in partnership with Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna , the Italian Sommelier Association Emilia and Romagna (AIS) and Unioncamere Emilia Romagna.
