the International Wine Without Walls
A special commission of judges chaired by Alice Feiring is ready for the New Vinitaly Event, named Wine Without Walls.
On the 31st March 2017, a Commission comprising of expert tasters, journalists and wine writers will score the participating wines from Italy and the rest of the world.
Wines entering in the Wine Without Walls – still wines, semi-sparkling wines or sparkling wines – must have the following characteristics:
a) total quantity of sulphites (sulphites produced naturally from alcoholic fermentation + added sulphites) of no more than 40 mg/l.
b) must not be the result of practices such as: micro-oxygenation, the use of concentrators, reverse osmosis, thermo-vinification, malolactic fermentation block and vineyard irrigation.
Once admitted, the wines will be divided into the following categories:
a) wines without added sulphites;
b) wines containing sulphites additions but that total quantity of sulphites (sulphites produced naturally from alcoholic fermentation +added sulphites) are no more than 40 mg/l.
A special Italian and International commission chaired by Alice Feiring, will score the wines participating in Wine Without Walls using the following parameters: liveliness, evolution in the glass, balance, drinkability; emotional impact, savoriness, transparency, and sense of place.
Amongst the tasted wines, the best wines will be awarded with the special sticker Wine Without Walls.
